The IPHF regularly organizes international conferences on public health topics all over the world. Every third year, the IPHF is responsible for the set-up of The World Congress on Public Health (WCPH) which is to serve as a knowledge transfer forum for practitioners and scientists in the fields of public health and preventive medicine. The next World Congress on Public Health will be held in 2010 in Nigeria.
The IPHF publishes The Public Health Perspectives (PHP), an international, inter-disciplinary newsletter offering updates and perspectives to practise issues, current research and policy matters covering all aspects of public health and preventive medicine especially from the purview of issues in the development sector. The PHP is usually free for members and non-members alike. It is an easily accessible resource of knowledge directly applicable to the healthcare as it is obtained in different settings world-wide in practice. It offers relevant information and insights about public health and preventive medicine to other healthcare professionals, public health relation development agencies, governments, and other organisations, groups and policy makers.
Currently, the IPHF is working on the development of a Journal of International Public Health (JIPH) online as a credible and easily accessible tool for eContinuing Medical Education and eContinuous Professional Development. With this extensive eLearning-tool, the IPHF approaches its vision to become the first virtual network of public health /community physicians and public health practitioners worldwide. Infact, in 2007, formally put in place a substantive ExCO to manage its affairs for the period 2007-10.
Local affiliates or members in different parts of the world are expected to organise advocacy programmes relevant to their local health needs, guided by the thematic areas of the global forum for the particular syndicate year. (A syndicate year being the cycle of a particular leadership with its own developed advocacy WorkPlan and strategies)
